Paul O’Doherty, instructed by Lee Dunnill and Zoe May of Hewlett Swanson, acted for the liquidators of Northern Powerhouse Developments Ltd (in liquidation) and related companies, in successfully securing judgment against Gavin Woodhouse, the founding director of Northern Powerhouse Developments, for £2.3m. The case concerned wide-ranging breaches of his duties as director and the dishonest use of investors’ monies.
This is the latest development in the long-running insolvency litigation following the collapse of the Northern Powerhouse Developments Group, which was placed into interim management and then administration in 2019, after a joint Guardian/ITN News undercover investigation. Northern Powerhouse Developments raised £75m in investments for the sale of rooms in a series of hotel investments which failed causing very substantial investor losses.
